Perfect Timing

God has perfect timing. You might be thinking -- "well, duh!" But that simple truth can sneak up on me like a precious reminder.  Perhaps God wants to make sure that I know, that I know, that I know his timing is perfect.

I've been participating in a Bible study with a group of young moms at our church based on Lysa Terkeurst's book, The Best Yes. No, I'm not a young mom -- let's just say I'm a mom -- actually I'm one of 2 mentor moms facilitating the study. I love these young moms who teach me so much. As the study came to an end a few weeks ago, there was still a bit of unfinished homework to complete on your own. I've learned over the years that God can use unfinished Bible study pages to teach me something just when I need it. He catches me by surprise and delights my heart at the same time. I've come to believe God saves the pages for just the moment I need that exact lesson -- that exact truth. He saves that lesson for me because he knows, that he knows, that he knows I will need it in a way I cannot imagine.

So now, whenever I have unfinished pages in a Bible study workbook, I anticipate what God might teach me. I treasure those pages and wait for the time I sense a gentle pull toward opening that workbook again. I know something good, something needed, something personal is waiting. Why? Because we serve a God with perfect timing.

What about you? Have some blank pages in an unfinished Bible study waiting for you . . . . . . . .

Generosity

Generosity is contagious. My husband is a generous guy -- that's one of the qualities that attracted me to him. He's a hard worker who takes a great deal of pleasure from giving to others. We've been married over 35 years now, and his generosity has rubbed off on me. I just had the pleasure of giving away some nice furniture we've used for years, but don't need anymore. I love the thought of that furniture serving another family through the years. The young mom who got it was excited, but not nearly as excited as I was.

This is just another illustration that God knows what he's talking about (huge "Duh" moment). God is the one who said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Our church has 5 key values and one of them is Generosity. We want to be known as a generous church. The only way we can make that happen is for each one of us to be generous people. My husband is light years ahead of me, but God is working on my heart.
