Well I got it. It came in the mail last week. It's official. I received my diploma from Dallas Theological Seminary. I worked hard for the last 5 1/2 years earning 63 credit hours for a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies. I enjoyed almost every minute of it (although perfecting the format of footnotes in research papers wasn't much fun).
I am struck by the thought that God views me the same before and after this diploma. He doesn't love or approve of me more. I'm so thankful I didn't have to earn a certain number of credit hours to achieve salvation. I didn't have to perfect anything. No pressure, no grades, no pesky footnotes. I simply accepted his gift of salvation. Jesus did it all.
So this morning I simply want to say "Thank you Jesus." I don't need a diploma from God. My name is written in the Lamb's book of life (Rev 21:27).
I am grateful.
